About The Position

The team at Thornhill Family Smiles Dental located in Thornhill, ON are looking for a passionate, hard-working Dental Administrator on a full-time temporary basis. 123Dentist is Canada’s largest majority dentist-owned network of dental practices, with almost 500 locations nationwide and nearly 8,000 employees. Providing a long-term career in a growing network located in multiple communities across the country, at all levels of the industry. The ideal Dental Administrator for our team enjoys working collaboratively of others and behind the scenes to organize, implement systems and structure and ensure the practice runs efficiently. This is a leadership role for someone with strong dental administration experience who can keep our schedule running smoothly, provide exceptional customer service, and support our clinical team. You'll work closely with the dentist and help ensure every patient has an outstanding experience from the moment they walk through our doors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of dental reception experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of dental insurance, treatment planning, and scheduling
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable multitasking in a busy environment
  • Positive attitude with a team-first mindset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and standard office software
  • Front desk: 3 years (required)
  • Completion of a Dental Administration Program/Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Customer service mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience using Abeldent (strong asset)
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset
  • Previous dental assisting experience is considered a strong asset
  • Experience with dental practice management software such as Abeldent software is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and provide an exceptional first impression
  • Manage appointment scheduling and optimize the daily schedule
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and handle patient inquiries professionally
  • Process insurance claims, treatment estimates, billing, and payments
  • Manage patient records and maintain accurate documentation
  • Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Follow up on outstanding treatment plans and patient recalls
  • Assist with collections and accounts receivable
  • Order office supplies and maintain front office organization
  • Train and mentor new front desk team members when required
  • Help improve office systems and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Support the dentist with administrative tasks as needed
  • Assist with patient concerns professionally and compassionately
