About The Position

Bar George is a lively and elegant dining destination in the heart of Montréal’s Golden Square Mile, blending historic charm with contemporary energy. The setting is ideal for hospitality professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering polished, personable service and memorable guest experiences. Our Demi-Chef de Partie plays an important supporting role in the kitchen, assisting the Chef de Partie and culinary team with preparation and service. They contribute to an efficient mise en place, follow recipes and direction carefully, and help ensure the quality and consistency of each preparation. Eager to learn and develop their culinary skills, they gradually build confidence and independence on their station while gaining valuable hands-on experience. They keep their work area clean and organized, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with their team to support a smooth service. This role provides a strong opportunity to develop professional cooking skills, gain experience in a high-volume kitchen, and progress toward greater responsibility within the culinary team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience in a fast-paced, high-performing restaurant environment.
  • Good understanding of professional cooking techniques and proper knife handling skills.
  • Ability to follow direction, learn quickly, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to remain standing for the full duration of the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety.
  • Eagerness to develop culinary skills and gradually build greater independence and responsibility.
  • Desire to grow with the team and take advantage of the various training and development opportunities offered by O&B.
  • Availability to work according to business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Culinary diploma or professional culinary training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily food preparation and follow established recipes and preparation methods with care and consistency.
  • Take pride in their station and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of their station, equipment, and work areas throughout service.
  • Work effectively with members of the culinary and Front of House teams to support a smooth and efficient service.
  • Follow established procedures for food preparation, storage, inventory, and receiving.
  • Follow direction from the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Chef de Cuisine while demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop their skills.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong team spirit throughout every shift.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen culture focused on food quality and the guest experience.
  • Gradually develop greater independence and technical skills in order to take on additional responsibilities within their station.
  • Participate in training opportunities and apply feedback and coaching to continue developing in the role.
  • Communicate any challenges, product shortages, or preparation and service concerns to their supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
