About The Position
The Delivery Helper loads materials, locates jobsites, assists with backing procedures, prepares and restores jobsites, prepares the truck for the following day, and maintains the truck and equipment. The role supports daily local deliveries to customer jobsites and requires safe handling and delivery of building materials in accordance with company, state, federal, OSHA, and DOT guidelines. The position works primarily outdoors at jobsites and customer locations, with exposure to varying weather, dust, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions common to construction supply and building materials operations. The position is on-site in Stow, Ohio.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate information accurately.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and handle building materials.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- 0–1 years of experience in delivery, warehouse, construction, or a related field.
- Must be able to remain standing 90% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to constantly move while unloading materials from commercial motor vehicles onto jobsites, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to constantly position oneself to load and unload materials from flatbed or boom trucks, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to frequently move materials weighing up to 100 lbs. while unloading and loading flatbed trucks, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to communicate with management and coworkers and exchange accurate information, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to constantly work outdoors while making deliveries, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in construction, building materials, delivery, warehouse, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with material handling and jobsite safety practices.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Comply with company, state, and federal guidelines, particularly OSHA and DOT requirements, to support personnel safety.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product to ensure order accuracy.
- Safely unload and deliver product to the assigned area as directed by the customer.
- Secure mud, equipment, metal, pallets, and other materials on the truck.
- Navigate routes to jobsites.
- Assist with maintaining trucks and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Help prepare trucks and materials for the following day's deliveries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
