About The Position
The Delivery Driver delivers products by car to customers within a designated delivery area and may make several deliveries per shift. The role also includes delivering flyers and door hangers. Drivers must use an insured vehicle and navigate to customer locations, including private homes, multi-story buildings, adverse terrain, and stairs. As a store team member, the driver may operate equipment; stock ingredients and supplies; prepare products; receive and process telephone orders; take inventory and complete related paperwork; and clean equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves customer and coworker communication, order processing, basic arithmetic and making change, and using a computer keyboard or touch screen. Work may involve exposure to varying weather, hot and cold areas and surfaces, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting for paperwork, lifting and carrying supplies and products, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs, bending, crouching, reaching, and frequent use of the hands and arms.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Must have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Must have navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Must be able to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings and stairs, while carrying products.
- Ability to understand and provide correct written instructions and communicate verbally with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, and make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Ability to perform the described physical tasks, including lifting cases weighing up to 50 pounds, carrying products, and frequent reaching and hand use.
Responsibilities
- Deliver products by car to customers within a designated delivery area and bring them to the customer's door.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Navigate to delivery addresses, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites.
- Operate store equipment and stock ingredients and supplies in storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare products and receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
- Communicate with customers and coworkers to process orders in person and over the phone.
- Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and move supplies to shelves.
