About The Position

The Delivery Driver provides friendly, efficient, organized, and timely delivery of Flowerama products to customers’ intended recipients. Drivers represent the store while operating a trademarked van and are responsible for delivering flowers and gifts safely, carefully, and on time, while providing positive interactions with recipients and the public. The role includes maintaining the delivery van, completing vehicle and delivery logs, processing delivery tickets and call tags, checking in and stocking freight, and assisting with store and shipment tasks as assigned. Drivers follow Flowerama policies and procedures, applicable Iowa vehicle laws, and management instructions. Part-time drivers may be expected to be on call to cover absent drivers or additional delivery needs. Schedules and hours may vary according to daily and seasonal needs, and drivers work until the last delivery is made.

Requirements

Maintain an acceptable Personal Motor Vehicle Record with DOT.
Ability to lift and transport up to 60 pounds without assistance.
Ability to work in temperatures as low as 32°F in a walk-in cooler and drive in seasonal temperature and weather fluctuations.
Strong command of the English language and legible handwriting.
Efficiency, excellent customer service skills, and a positive attitude.
Ability to communicate issues to a manager or supervisor in a timely manner.
Maintain the vehicle and products in it.
Wear professional dress and visible Flowerama logo apparel provided, such as a shirt, jacket, or hat.
Follow Iowa vehicle laws; do not text and drive.
Do not smoke in the vehicle.

Responsibilities

Deliver Flowerama products safely, carefully, and on time, following traffic laws and Iowa vehicle laws.
Provide positive customer service and interactions with recipients and the public; communicate delivery issues promptly to a manager or supervisor.
Maintain the van’s cleanliness, fuel, and fluid levels; check and complete vehicle maintenance logs and morning checklists daily.
Wash and vacuum vans daily when weather permits, fuel vans after deliveries, document fueling, and return fuel receipts to the store.
Process delivery tickets and call tags; use the BMS computer system’s trip sheet and delivery confirmation functions; record delivery times and recipients’ names and document reasons for undeliverable items.
Contact the store hourly to assess delivery needs and contact the store before closing about next-day and timed deliveries.
Check delivery addresses with the person in charge of deliveries when concerns arise and notify a manager or supervisor if a call tag was left.
Check in, inventory, stock, and price freight and product as needed.
Assist with secondary store duties as assigned, including changing marquees, transferring products between Iowa stores, breaking down boxes, cleaning store areas, removing garbage, setting up Benchmaster and exterior tents, unloading trucks, and assisting with seasonal and large shipments.
Maintain a neat, professional appearance consistent with the Flowerama dress code and wear provided logo apparel.
Follow Flowerama policies and handbook instructions, respect coworkers and management, and complete other tasks as assigned.
Do not smoke in the vehicle or text while driving.
