About The Position

The Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering products from Central Bakery to store locations, loading and unloading trucks, and picking up returns for delivery back to Central Bakery. The driver may make deliveries outside of regular store routes, performs basic truck maintenance, and conducts daily truck inspections, recording them in a logbook in accordance with DOT regulations.

The role is based at 1202 E. McKinley Ave, Mishawaka, Indiana. The schedule starts at 2:00 a.m. or 2:30 a.m. and is flexible, with weekends and holidays required as needed. The position may occasionally involve working in other areas and assisting with stock and maintenance at Central Bakery. Work conditions vary by season and include hot or cold indoor and outdoor temperatures, as well as exposure to truck-maintenance chemicals such as oil, DEF fluid, additives, and cleaners.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Driving experience.
• A “For Hire” license.
• Ability to plan and organize the workday independently.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to operate manual and powered pallet jacks.
• Ability to drive a large box truck.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to push and pull large stacks of product and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend and stretch and to demonstrate good eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to work to deadlines, follow instructions, and remember routes and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products from Central Bakery to store locations and, when needed, other destinations.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Pick up returns and bring them to Central Bakery.
• Perform basic truck maintenance.
• Inspect the truck daily and record inspections in a logbook according to DOT regulations.
• Occasionally work in other areas and assist with stock and maintenance at Central Bakery.
