About The Position

Upper Valley Haven is a community-centered nonprofit dedicated to helping people move out of homelessness and hunger and toward self-sufficiency. Through shelter, food access, education, and supportive services, the Haven partners with individuals and families to build stability and opportunity. Our work is grounded in dignity, equity, and respect—and our staff are central to advancing that mission. As Upper Valley Haven’s delivery driver, you help provide reliable, choice-based access to food to fellow community members. Your weekly activities support community outreach partnerships as you transport food to partner organizations who also help ensure that everyone gets fed. Your polite and friendly disposition and neat appearance allow you to represent the Haven to external partners with professionalism and maturity. As an ideal candidate, you are a safe and courteous driver. You bring strong organization and communication skills. You pay good attention to details, including keeping all work areas clean and tidy. You thrive in a busy environment, work well with others to complete tasks, take the initiative to fill in slow periods with needed tasks, and are flexible to last-minute changes to the day’s schedule.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to comply with state and local driving rules and regulations.
  • Job requirements include passing a DOT physical and a driver background check.
  • Able to pass a DOT physical and a driver background check.
  • Able to drive a cargo van
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and to work on your feet for a 5-hour shift.
  • Maintain a safety-first approach.
  • Willingness to learn and comply with operational policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact politely and comfortably with people from a wide range of social, economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability/comfort driving a 20-foot box truck if needed.
  • Ability to execute program deliveries independently, without supervision.
  • Ability to operate a manual and an electric pallet jack (training provided).
  • Ability to work occasional 8-hour days, in the absence of the Market’s full-time driver.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, load, transport, and unload food to our partner sites and other area locations
  • Help keep food programs and market spaces clean and organized
  • Keep the delivery vehicle clean and organized
  • Take on other duties as assigned
