About The Position

The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients and supplies, prepares products, receives and processes telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans equipment and the facility. The role delivers products by car to customers and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job training and orientation are provided.

The work involves in-store food preparation and order processing as well as driving within a designated delivery area. Conditions include exposure to varying weather, changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Most tasks are performed standing, with some walking, sitting for paperwork, lifting and carrying supplies and orders, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs, and bending, crouching, and reaching.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
• Ability to understand and give correct written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally with customers and co-workers to process orders by phone and in person.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, and make correct monetary change.
• Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Motor coordination to make precise, rapid movements with the eyes, hands, and fingers.
• Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
• Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
• Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
• Ability to lift and handle deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the physical tasks described, including standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching.

Responsibilities

• Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
• Prepare products.
• Receive and process telephone orders.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
• Deliver products by car to customers’ doors within the designated delivery area.
• Deliver flyers and door hangers.
• Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock supplies on shelves.
• Navigate delivery sites, including stairs and other terrain, while carrying products.
