About The Position
Delivery drivers deliver pizzas and other products to customers within a designated delivery area, while also completing general store team-member duties. Duties include operating equipment, stocking ingredients and supplies, and preparing products. Orientation and training are provided on the job. The role offers a flexible schedule and may provide opportunities for growth, including into management. The position involves customer and coworker communication, taking and processing orders by phone and in person, using a computer keyboard or touch screen, handling payments and making change, and navigating delivery locations. Team members may make several deliveries per shift and must safely drive and carry products to customers, including navigating stairs and other terrain. Work includes standing, walking, driving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, crouching, reaching, and frequent use of the hands and arms. The work environment can include adverse weather, varying temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Store temperatures may range from 36 degrees in the cooler to 90 degrees or higher in some work areas; ovens and other hot tools may reach 500 degrees or higher.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Must have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Must be able to read maps, locate addresses within the delivery area, and navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings.
- Must be able to comprehend and give correct written instructions and communicate verbally with customers and coworkers.
- Must have basic arithmetic skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly; a calculator may be used.
- Must be able to make correct monetary change.
- Must have verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Must have sufficient motor coordination to make rapid, accurate movements and to enter orders using a keyboard or touch screen.
- Must be able to carry products while walking and climbing, including navigating five or more flights of stairs when required.
- Must be able to perform the physical duties described, including lifting deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds, frequent reaching and hand use, and standing for most tasks.
Responsibilities
- Deliver pizzas within a designated delivery area and travel between the store, delivery vehicle, and customer locations.
- Navigate to addresses using maps and other navigation skills, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites.
- Operate store equipment.
- Stock ingredients and supplies from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare products.
- Take and process orders by phone and in person, and enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Handle customer payments and make correct monetary change.
- Unload bulk product deliveries, which may include cases weighing up to 50 pounds, and move supplies to storage shelves.
- Perform other store tasks such as removing trash, stocking shelves, cleaning, and occasional maintenance or sign-price changes.
