About The Position

The Delivery Driver provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while delivering products to customers. The role includes collecting payment and making change when necessary, returning payments and beginning cash to the store, maintaining food and groceries at proper temperatures, and keeping delivery vehicles clean and maintained. Drivers work with store personnel to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment, and may assist in other store areas as needed. The position is part-time and requires a valid driver’s license with no DOT restrictions; employees must be at least 18 years old to drive a company vehicle. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with no DOT restrictions.
• Must be at least 18 years old to drive a company vehicle.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people in a friendly, professional manner.
• Ability to identify problems and develop and execute solutions.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies verbally or in writing.
• Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and willingness to promote company values.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of medium work, including occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and frequent standing, walking, and lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, handle, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to enter and exit a delivery vehicle many times a day and traverse staircases and rough terrain to reach delivery destinations.
• Ability to see detail at near range, with or without correction.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, treating customers with care, concern, and patience.
• Greet customers in a friendly manner, learn their names, and address them by name when possible.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Deliver products to customers, collect payment, and make change when necessary.
• Return payments and beginning cash to the store.
• Maintain food and groceries at proper temperatures in accordance with food safety standards.
• Follow department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress, as well as company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
• Assist in other store areas as needed and perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
• Facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of delivery vehicles, including keeping vehicles clean inside and out.
