About The Position
The Delivery Driver delivers products by car to customers’ doors and may distribute flyers, door hangers, or other marketing materials. The role also includes in-store duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients and supplies, preparing products, receiving and processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility approximately daily. Orientation and on-the-job training are provided. The position involves customer and coworker communication in person and by phone, order entry using a keyboard or touchscreen, handling money and making change, and following written instructions. Delivery work takes place within a designated delivery area and may involve adverse weather, driving at night, carrying orders, and navigating stairs and varied delivery sites. In-store conditions include temperature changes, a walk-in cooler, hot surfaces and tools, fumes, dust, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. The work requires sustained standing and frequent hand use, reaching, bending, and handling products and equipment.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
- Ability to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multistory buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions and communicate verbally with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, with a calculator if needed, and make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touchscreen.
- Motor coordination and eye-hand coordination for precise, rapid movements and frequent use of hands.
- Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to perform the described physical duties, including standing, walking, lifting and carrying products, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, crouching, reaching, and grasping.
- Ability to carry delivery products while walking and climbing; navigation of five or more flights of stairs may be required.
- Far and night vision for driving, and near and mid-range vision and depth perception for in-store tasks.
- Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
