Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. The company functions in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is managed as a small business. Dahl, a trade name of Hajoca, is seeking a Delivery Driver/Warehouse Teammate for its Castle Rock, CO location. This role requires a friendly, detail-oriented, safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 1+ years warehouse or material handling experience
  • Ability to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years old (as a non-CDL driver)
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver
  • Able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years thereafter
  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, including commercial motor vehicles subject to DOT regulations
  • Able to apply and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment
  • Able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations
  • Able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment
  • Able to learn and operate computer-related systems used in the delivery process
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, or other directed locations.
  • Load trucks with merchandise, ensuring proper securement to prevent shifting, damage, or falling.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise and place it as directed by the receiving party.
  • Obtain legible signatures for all delivered merchandise per Company policy.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing material.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at the delivery site.
  • Load trucks with merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts/accessories for safe operating condition before departure.
  • Keep the truck clean.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
  • Receive, count, and verify incoming shipments.
  • Stock the warehouse and maintain cleanliness, order, and safety.
  • Load/unload trucks and operate a forklift safely.
  • Monitor inventory levels and stock depletions that could impact customer service.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety, removing debris and informing supervisors of safety issues.
