About The Position

As a Perishable Clerk on the Prepared Foods team, you will serve customers by filling orders and ensuring fresh products are available. Work areas may include the salad bar, sandwich area, hot foods, or beverage bar. You will also be trained to assist customers in other store areas, including the Deli and Meat Departments. The role is suited to a team player who supports colleagues, contributes to their success, and is interested in developing leadership skills.

Requirements

At least 16 years of age.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Food Safety certification or licensing is required.
Education: no high school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers in the department, provide exemplary service, and fill orders to meet their expectations.
Make suggestions to enhance customers’ shopping experience and answer questions using sufficient product knowledge.
Provide products and services that meet internal and external customer requirements and abide by the Company's Statement of Values.
Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floors, and meet sanitation regulations.
Set up the deli and cheese case according to company standards and procedures.
Replenish Grab-n-Go, deli, prepared foods, seafood, meat, produce, and floral cases as needed; rotate products, follow code-dating procedures, and ensure fresh products are available.
Maintain product levels in sales cases by identifying and filling low-stock areas.
Record and assist with preparation of deli and prepared foods special orders.
Learn and maintain knowledge of code dating, and follow procedures to help the store meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
Assist with receiving and unloading deliveries, and compare invoices with merchandise.
Rotate products and check code dates to help ensure customer safety.
Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning work processes.
Handle products and equipment according to food safety guidelines to maintain a safe shopping environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
