About The Position

Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market is a specialty gourmet food retailer serving the Mid-Atlantic United States, with a heritage dating back to 1916. The Deli Supervisor helps ensure the smooth operation of the Prepared Foods and Deli department. The role includes preparing the department for business, supporting and supervising deli staff, serving customers, managing products and inventory, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. The position uses deli equipment and basic technology for ordering, scheduling, and communication. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in a deli or prepared foods department.
At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Strong product knowledge.
Basic knife skills and familiarity with deli equipment.
Proven ability to lead a team and maintain high standards of service and cleanliness.
Comfort with email, basic ordering systems, and scheduling tools; training is provided.

Nice To Haves

Sanitation and Food Safety certification; the employer will help the employee obtain certification if needed.

Responsibilities

Prepare the department for business each day by cleaning, restocking, checking for expired items, and merchandising displays.
Supervise and support front-of-house deli staff, assist with training, and foster a positive, customer-first culture.
Engage with customers, answer questions, offer product recommendations, and ensure a high-quality shopping experience.
Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory; ensure products are properly priced, labeled, and displayed.
Use deli equipment, including slicers, ovens, and fryers; maintain sanitation standards and follow food safety protocols.
Participate in monthly inventory counts and use basic technology tools for ordering, scheduling, and communication.
