About The Position

Buehler’s Deli Cooks prepare food for the Restaurant, Deli, and Catering departments, ensuring each has the food it needs each day. The role works closely with managers and co-workers to support a special customer experience, whether customers are shopping in the store or attending a catered event. Cooks prepare a variety of foods while following established food production programs and procedures.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old; applicants aged 16–17 may not operate equipment such as slicers or buffalo choppers.
• Be able to occasionally stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50–80 pounds.
• Have manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
• Be able to perform simple math problems.
• Be able to work in a deli or kitchen environment and be frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
• Be able to work weekends and accommodate staffing needs with a flexible schedule.
• Work well in a team and support the Deli, Catering, and Restaurant teams.
• Manage stress and maintain composure during busy periods, weekends, and special holidays.
• Pay attention to food presentation and follow recipes using exact measurements.
• Work with minimal supervision while remaining highly productive.
• Be dependable, reliable, and flexible with scheduling.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Prep Cook experience; new teammates are welcome and training is available.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare the department’s food needs.
• Set up, organize, and prepare food using established production procedures and systems.
• Follow sanitation, health, personal hygiene, and housekeeping standards to keep the work area clean.
• Use proper food-handling techniques.
• Assist Line Cooks when needed.
• Assist the Deli Department when needed.
• Store food safely and properly, and mark the date and item.
