About The Position

Buehler’s Deli Cooks prepare food for the Restaurants, Deli and Catering departments, ensuring each department has the food it needs each day. The role works closely with managers and coworkers to support a quality customer experience in stores and at catered events. Deli Cooks prepare a variety of foods while following established food production programs and procedures. The position requires schedule flexibility to accommodate customer demand, including availability to work weekends and special holidays. The duties and responsibilities may change without notice.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old; applicants aged 16–17 may not operate equipment such as slicers or buffalo choppers.
• Be able to occasionally stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50–80 pounds.
• Have manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures and perform simple math problems.
• Be able to work in a deli or kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
• Enjoy teamwork and support the Deli, Catering, and Restaurant teams by ensuring each department has what it needs.
• Enjoy food preparation and cooking; have an eye for food presentation; read recipes and follow exact measurements.
• Work with minimal supervision while remaining productive; manage stress and maintain composure during busy periods.
• Be dependable, reliable, and flexible with scheduling to accommodate customer demand, including weekend work.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Prep Cook experience; the company is also willing to train a new teammate.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare the department’s food needs.
• Set up, organize, and prepare food using established production procedures and systems.
• Comply with sanitation, health, personal hygiene, and housekeeping standards to keep the work area clean.
• Observe proper food-handling techniques.
• Assist Line Cooks when needed.
• Assist the Deli Department when needed.
• Store food properly and safely, and mark the date and item.
