About The Position

The Deli/Coffee Shop Barista provides prompt, high-quality coffee selection, sales, and preparation while demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The role involves customer service, preparing beverages to established standards, maintaining a clean service area, and following store procedures for merchandising, inventory, cash handling, and food and equipment care. The barista works cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and supports customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and six months of customer service experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• Ability to complete Initial Store Training and pass barista certification with a score of 90% or better.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work weekends regularly, work any shift, and work overtime as needed.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
• Familiarity with industry or technical terms and processes.

Responsibilities

• Model Customer 1st behavior and deliver and encourage excellent customer service.
• Promote and follow company initiatives.
• Greet customers, answer questions, and suggest products to enhance service and meet sales goals.
• Maintain cleanliness of the customer service area and equipment.
• Prepare customer beverage orders, including espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day, to standard.
• Follow store policies and procedures.
• Perform cleaning tasks according to duty rosters and cleaning standards.
• Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products.
• Follow cash-handling and register policies.
• Follow inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
