About The Position

The Deli Clerk assists guests at the deli counter by recommending foods, slicing meats and cheeses, and providing excellent customer service. The role supports a convenient, one-stop shopping experience at TravelCenters of America and helps ensure travelers return to the road better than they came. The clerk serves customers courteously, quickly, and efficiently; handles point-of-sale transactions; monitors deli inventory; and promotes available products. The role also includes cleaning and preparing workstations, following safety guidelines, maintaining customer-facing displays, and communicating with leaders and coworkers. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Good verbal communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Nice To Haves

Prior Deli Clerk experience is preferred but not required.
Basic computer and POS knowledge is preferred.
Cash handling skills are preferred.
A dedicated individual who works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

Serve each customer courteously, quickly, and efficiently with a sincere, positive, pleasant, and enthusiastic attitude.
Recommend deli foods and slice meats and cheeses.
Take inventory of products on display and promote deli products.
Process customer transactions using a point-of-sale (POS) register.
Clean and prepare workstations.
Follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers.
Update displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas to showcase new items and promotions.
Establish strong communication and rapport with leaders and coworkers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
