About The Position

The Monson General Store has an opening for a year-round, part time position. Monson General Store is a gem in Northern Maine and our Store is seeing unprecedented growth. We are looking for friendly individuals with great personalities that can work quickly - but not get too stressed - in a fast-paced environment. A Kitchen and Deli Associate is responsible for food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and to-go ready foods. Ideal candidate will have prior kitchen or culinary experience, but we can always train the right person. Come work in an amazing store, on a beautiful store with a great and friendly team. This is a part time position (less than 30 hours/week) that will require closing shifts (working until 7:00pm) and 1 weekend day of availability (Saturday or Sunday).

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn POS system.
  • Ability to complete work place training and food safety training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating manuals, food preparation instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms performing repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • Talk or hear.
  • Taste or smell.
  • Occasionally needs to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior kitchen or culinary experience.
  • Previous experience handling cash.
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines and standards.
  • ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

  • Slice and package meats, cheeses and other deli products.
  • Prepare salads, sandwiches, soups and hot foods using deli equipment such as ovens and meat slicers.
  • Take food orders and handle transactions at a POS (Point-of-Service) system.
  • Monitor inventory levels, keep displays stocked and fresh, rotate and label products.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, following all company and government food safety protocols.
  • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
