About The Position

ZipRecruiter is seeking a Manager, Decision Science to lead its Enterprise Decision Science team. The team supports the full lifecycle of how the company’s largest customers find, attract, and hire talent, including performance marketing campaigns, the apply experience, ATS integrations, and candidate-quality signals. The role is a player-coach position: developing a small team of decision scientists while personally leading strategic analyses. The manager brings appropriate analytical rigor to situations where clean experiments are rare or data is limited, selects methods suited to the available evidence, and communicates recommendations and uncertainty clearly to Product, Engineering, and go-to-market partners. The manager owns the decision science agenda for the Enterprise area, sets analytical priorities and methodological standards, and partners across Enterprise Product, Engineering, Rev Ops, Sales/GTM leadership, and Customer Success. The role evaluates sales- and customer-led initiatives using the strongest approach the data can support, which may include quasi-experimental designs, descriptive analyses, or a combination of quantitative evidence and qualitative input. The manager also coaches team members, oversees performance and career development, and helps improve team efficiency, including by establishing standards for Data and AI tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, operations research, or economics, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 6 years of analytics or data science experience in a product, engineering, or technology environment.
  • At least 1 year of people management experience, including direct responsibility for performance management and career development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead data work on important business initiatives and earn the trust of cross-functional and business stakeholders.
  • Experience measuring impact with A/B tests and quasi-experimental or causal inference methods, such as difference-in-differences, synthetic control, or matching, when randomization is not feasible.
  • Sound judgment in low-data situations, including combining limited quantitative evidence with qualitative signals to form well-reasoned recommendations and communicating uncertainty honestly.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to connect data analysis to measurable business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of synthesizing complex findings for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with performance marketing campaign measurement and optimization.
  • Experience analyzing customer retention, churn, and expansion in a B2B or enterprise SaaS business.
  • Experience partnering with Sales, GTM, Rev Ops, or Customer Success teams to evaluate business initiatives.
  • Experience working with small-sample or account-level data, such as B2B customer bases where each customer has an outsized impact.
  • Familiarity with recruiting, HR tech, or ATS ecosystems, or with two-sided marketplaces.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach a team of decision scientists supporting the Enterprise area; review their work, oversee performance and career development, set expectations, and help them grow their business and technical skills.
  • Prioritize concurrent projects, align team capacity with Enterprise and company goals, and improve team efficiency, including by setting standards for Data and AI tooling.
  • Personally lead strategic analyses in the Enterprise space and establish methodological standards, pressure-test causal claims, and guide the team on the appropriate level of rigor for each question.
  • Own the Enterprise decision science agenda, partner with stakeholders to define important questions, set analytical priorities, and maintain a high standard of rigor.
  • Evaluate initiatives led by Sales, GTM, and Customer Success using the strongest analytical approach the available data supports, and communicate the confidence and uncertainty of conclusions.
  • Serve as a trusted Decision Science partner to Enterprise Product, Engineering, Rev Ops, Sales/GTM leadership, and Customer Success.
  • Influence cross-functional direction and prioritization, identify opportunities to partner, and translate complex quantitative findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
