About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation to ensure all students graduate high school ready for college and career. The district comprises 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students from Pre-K to 12th grade, with a significant portion qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch and being students of color. The Dean of Students will be responsible for student discipline, supervising extracurricular activities, fostering positive student connections, developing programs to enhance learning commitment, promoting safety and harmony, and establishing high standards for students, teachers, and staff. This role also involves effective planning and action to achieve school goals under the principal's direction, potentially including instructional leadership duties.

Requirements

• New York State Adult Education teacher certification
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected
• Required to pass a fingerprint-based background check, at the cost of $101.75 to the candidate

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors Degree, strongly preferred
• Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
