About The Position

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions. USI is a vibrant state public university campus, enrolling more than 9,500 students from 88 Indiana counties, 47 states, and 36 nations. The University is located in Evansville, the third-largest city in Indiana. USI is a comprehensive public university, classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as an “engaged university.”

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in a healthcare discipline, or an earned doctorate combined with a terminal degree in a healthcare field.
  • Academic qualifications and achievements consistent with an appointment as a tenured, full professor in the College.
  • Evidence of a minimum of three years of significant leadership experience in an academic setting.
  • Documented expertise in a healthcare field with a current, unencumbered licensure, certification, or registration as applicable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive learning and working environment where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and contribute to institutional excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall administration of the College, including academic programs, personnel, budgets, facilities, and operations.
  • Advance student recruitment, retention, success, and enrollment growth initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and support institutional accreditation efforts.
  • Foster a collaborative, student-centered culture that supports excellence in teaching, learning, research, and service.
  • Recruit, develop, and support faculty and staff while promoting shared governance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead budgeting, resource allocation, fundraising, grant development, and external engagement activities.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with healthcare, industry, government, community, and alumni stakeholders.
  • Champion innovation in curriculum, program delivery, and workforce-focused educational opportunities.
  • Represent and advocate for the College on university committees and within regional, national, and professional communities.
  • Oversee College facilities, technology, and strategic initiatives to support long-term growth and success.
