About The Position

The Dealership Janitor is responsible for the general cleanliness of dealership common areas in the Service department. The role maintains spaces including the sales floor, service department and bay, employee break rooms, offices, and waiting areas using cleaning agents and tools supplied by the dealership. The janitor also keeps restrooms stocked, manages cleaning-supply inventory, removes trash, and follows health and safety regulations. The position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Service Director.

Requirements

Education up to the 11th grade.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively in one-on-one or small- or group situations to employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
Valid driver license.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
Vision abilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

One year of housekeeping or janitorial work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of dealership common areas, including the sales floor, service department, service bay, and employee break rooms, using dealership-supplied cleaning agents and tools.
Clean dealership restrooms and stock soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Dust and wipe desktops, counters, window ledges, and other surfaces.
Wipe entry-door glass and spot-clean walls to remove smudges and marks.
Mop hard-surface floors and vacuum carpeted areas throughout the facilities.
Clean the sales, business office, and body shop refrigerators weekly, disposing of unwanted food and thoroughly cleaning the interiors.
Thoroughly clean the sales, business office, and body shop microwaves weekly.
Thoroughly clean the service bay, service offices, and waiting area weekly.
Empty trash cans as needed.
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when stock is low.
Follow all health and safety regulations.
