About The Position

The Potomac Center/SETT facility provides quality person-centered support to adults with intellectual disabilities at its campus in Hagerstown, Maryland. The aim is to partner with the community to help residents achieve their goals. The Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) focusing on therapeutic interventions to empower residents as they learn skills for successful return to community living. The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT) Program, within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensed Forensic Residential Center serving individuals with intellectual disabilities and court involvement in a safe and secure environment. The SETT program provides assistance as individuals resolve court involvement and work toward transitioning to less secured environments, utilizing active treatment, evaluation, assessment, and competency attainment education. This position is a specialized DDA serving as the “Scheduler” for direct care of Potomac Center and Secure Evaluation & Therapeutic Treatment (SETT).

Requirements

  • Three years of experience providing direct client services in a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting
  • Current certificate as a Nursing Assistant from the Maryland State Board of Nursing
  • Must successfully complete training in and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
  • Subject to call-in 24 hours a day and must provide a telephone number where they can be reached

  • Experience utilizing spreadsheets to show trends
  • Completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university with 15 credit hours in health or human services, education or the behavioral sciences and one year of experience providing direct client services in a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting
  • Possession of an Associate of Arts or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in the treatment of developmental disabilities in a mental health or closely related curriculum including a supervised clinical practicum in a developmental disability or similar behavior modification setting
  • U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Hospital Corpsman classifications or Health Care Specialist and Medical Services specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop the direct care schedule
  • Complete daily 24-hour assignment sheets for direct care
  • Approve/deny leave requests
  • Man the DDA phones for both facilities for call outs and adjust the schedule accordingly by finding adequate coverage
  • Schedule resident guest visits
  • Ensure appropriate staffing on all shifts and cycles
  • Accompany trips off-grounds
  • Track change of shift and cycle requests
  • Track direct care leave balances
  • Provide direct care with timesheet logs
  • Notify direct care and supervisors of training needs and ensure adequate coverage
  • Ensure fair and equitable overtime and rotation practices
  • All other duties assigned to the scheduler
  • Helping each person served meet their personal outcomes
  • Full compliance with applicable policies and procedures relating to both resident care as well as identified outcomes and measures
  • Provision of quality services in representative areas such as equipment utilization, data collection, personal hygiene, and programming
  • Matching newly-acquired skills to enhance growth and development of persons served per their Individualized Plan (IP) goals
