About The Position

This role involves supporting Engineers and the Engineering Manager in creating 3D models, drawings, and equipment Bills of Materials (BOMs) independently. The position requires simulating problems in drawings to assist service personnel, working on Engineering Work Requests, and adhering to departmental Work Instructions and Engineering Standards. The designer will be responsible for creating and checking drawings and designs to ensure accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety across mechanical, piping, and structural scopes, specifically for Hyperscale Data Center Modules, ensuring compliance with Industrial Standards. Problem resolution will involve identifying and selecting solutions based on technical experience and factual analysis. The role also includes preparing bulk Material Take Offs (MTOs) and detailed BOMs, ensuring all drawings adhere to Engineering and QA/QC standards. Specific deliverables include piping layout, general arrangements, isometrics, schedules, tie-point drawings, insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, weld details, connection details, foundation support details, and equipment mounting details. The designer will also create weight/COG reports, manual valve lists, HVAC ducting, instrumentation diagrams, flow diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, and handrails, ladders, walkways, and stairs compliant with OSHA standards. Additionally, the role involves supervising the outsourcing of engineering design work to third-party firms, reviewing vendor data and drawings for compliance, producing report data from models, and providing necessary design information to stakeholders. The position also requires providing lessons learned feedback to update tools and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, piping, and structural scopes of work.
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent).
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in Solid Works.
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in Navisworks Manager / Freedom.
  • Operational knowledge in SAP (ERP Tool w/ Engineering Modules and Transactions).
  • Operational knowledge in Autodesk Revit.
  • Operational knowledge in Autodesk BIM 360.
  • General knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations including AHRI, ANSI, AWS, IBC, MFMA, MSS, OSHA, and NFPA.
  • Experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software.
  • Ability to produce drawings and sketches to illustrate design ideas.
  • Understanding of the purpose of electrical systems for facilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support Engineers and Engineering Manager in providing 3D models, drawings, and equipment BOM as per requirements independently.
  • Support service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in drawings.
  • Work on Engineering Work Requests and comply with all departmental Work Instructions and Engineering Standards.
  • Create and check drawings and designs to ensure accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical, piping, and structural scopes.
  • Ensure work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules meets requirements and Industrial Standards.
  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through technical experience and analysis of factual information.
