About The Position

This position will direct all day-to-day administrative operations and service delivery activities for the New Orleans region within the Child Welfare (CW) Division of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The incumbent will oversee all workforce and resource decisions for the region and will work with the DCFS CW Regional Administrator as a member of the Child Welfare management team to develop strategies, goals, and objectives to accomplish the mission and CW Practice Principles of DCFS.

Requirements

  • Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above in Child Support Enforcement, Child Welfare, or Economic Stability programs: Nine years of social services experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus six years of social services experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus six years of social services experience; OR An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration, or a Juris Doctorate plus five years of social services experience.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license & access to a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of Child Welfare programs to ensure that identified outcome measures are achieved.
  • Ensures that Child Welfare manages implement the strategies, goals, and objectives for their area of assignment.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to DCFS CW Managers in the New Orleans Region to ensure that all programs are properly administered.
  • Interviews or oversees the interviewing of applicants or employees to fill vacancies or promotional positions according to applicable laws, rules, and policies.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external contacts to promote positive public relations and to facilitate the accomplishment of DCFS CW goals and objectives.
  • Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
  • Works with DCFS CW Regional Administrator over the New Orleans Region to implement action necessary in handling extremely sensitive issues and/or cases that have drawn or have the potential to draw political, public, and/or media attention.
  • Performs other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department.
