About The Position

The Distribution Center Trainer is responsible for providing training to team members to safely and efficiently unload, sort, and load cartons and pallets in a fast-paced environment. This role involves delivering hands-on training, supporting daily operations, executing core warehouse functions, providing direction, coaching for performance, and championing a proactive safety culture. The trainer will also drive change, support continuous improvement, and provide automation training and adoption support.

Requirements

  • 1+ years warehousing or training experience
  • Ability to learn and train on various tasks required in a DC environment
  • Knowledge of SOPs, and safety standards
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in English - Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and solutions-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in training, mentoring, or team leadership strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead hands-on training for both new hires and existing team members, ensuring thorough understanding of processes, safety protocols, and performance expectations.
  • Tailor training approaches to individual learning styles and operational needs.
  • Actively work cartons and pallets across all functional areas of the distribution center, demonstrating best practices and setting a high standard for productivity, safety, and accuracy.
  • Efficiently unload inbound pallets and/or cartons, verifying shipment accuracy.
  • Organize and palletize cartons according to destination or workflow needs.
  • Load pallets securely onto outbound trailers, following proper safety and documentation procedures.
  • Execute tasks based on priorities set by Leads or Managers.
  • Reinforce operational directives and serve as a trusted extension of leadership within the workflow.
  • Conduct informal and formal performance evaluations.
  • Deliver actionable feedback and ongoing coaching to drive improvements in associate productivity, quality, and safety behavior.
  • Print and organize learning materials, track training sign-offs.
  • Conduct behavioral observation walks and safety walks.
  • Promote and model a safety-first mindset.
  • Ensure completion of Behavioral Observation Surveys (BOS), identify and immediately address unsafe conditions, and reinforce all safety standards during training and daily operations.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and foster a culture of learning, adaptability, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with operations & human resources to identify critical skills gaps and create training plans with human resources to address them.
  • Train and coach team members on the safe and effective interaction with automated material handling systems, including driverless forklifts (AGVs/AMRs) and automated offloading equipment.
  • Reinforce proper procedures, troubleshoot basic issues, and promote adherence to safety and operational standards to ensure successful adoption and consistent performance within an automated environment.
