About The Position

Potbelly is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide customers with fast, friendly, and efficient service and consistently deliver quality products in a clean, inviting environment. Team Members help customers enjoy lunch again while working in a fast-paced, energetic shop. The role includes opening the shop, preparing food, serving customers, and working across multiple stations as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
Be a team player.
Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of three hours or as needed.
Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Work multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
Comply with food health, cleanliness, and safety standards.
Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
Prepare sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, and other finished products efficiently and to quality standards.
Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, the kitchen, and utensils, and take out trash.
Operate the cash register, handle and balance cash, and follow cash-handling procedures.
Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
Perform other duties as assigned.
