About The Position

The Day Services Manager performs a wide variety of duties to coordinate Services at ESGWND. The Manager will oversee the day-to-day schedule of the ESPs who work in day Program. The manager will ensure quality support, meaningful activities and appropriate volunteer opportunities are available for people we support. The manager will follow appropriate ratios to ensure safety for the people utilizing ESGWND services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 1 year of work experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in training and teaching others in prior positions.
  • Become a Trainer for CRP/First Aid or Therapeutic Responses through Positive Behavior supports.
  • Become certified in Developmental Disabilities by following Minot State University prescribed schedule for completion of modules.
  • Must have a take-charge attitude and be able to manage priorities and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Experience, working in a team setting and coordination of various work assignments.
  • Must have and maintain valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement creative plans (think “outside the box”).
  • Ability to solve problems independently while working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Excellent written, oral and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Exercise discretion, judgment and confidentiality.
  • Analyze, problem solve, make decisions on the spot.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of department information/files.
  • Maintain accurate information and efficient record keeping systems.
  • Maintain all the training courses required and ensure all documentation is completed for proper billing.
  • Comply with ESGWND’s policies and procedures and safety standards throughout regional work areas.
  • Interact effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel within the ESGWND support area.

Responsibilities

  • Be fully aware and positively promote the mission, vision and values of ESGWND.
  • Have a strong knowledge of ESGWND policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the planning process of the Person Centered Plans by providing information to the team, either through completing assessments and/or participating in meetings, about what you know to be the dreams and goals, strengths and needs of the people we support.
  • Ensure that the strategies to help the supported person achieve their goals and realize their personal outcomes, as set forth by their team, are carried out in both formal and informal settings; and, to assure that Direct Service Providers (DSPs) document the results so they can be used to determine if people are making progress towards their goals.
  • Ensure that the supported person can manage their finances, seek out financial assistance, maintain and protect their personal possessions during day services hours.
  • Ensure that the supported person looks their best by providing needed assistance to complete grooming, hygiene and clothing tasks.
  • Provide both formal and informal direction and support to DSPs so they can assist the supported person in achieving their optimum health. Ensure that DSPs monitor and document health information so complete and accurate information is available for the medical professional when the supported person seeks medical attention.
  • Ensure that DSPs are trained to assist the supported person in administering their medications, and ensure that the supported person, their family and/or DSPs are able to schedule, attend, participate and follow recommendations received at medical appointments.
  • Ensure that the supported person meets their nutritional needs by encouraging them to eat well-balanced healthy meals and snacks and to follow diets orders established by their doctor and/or family; and to direct DSPs to prepare meals accordingly.
  • Provide proper training to DSPs on the proper paper work and appropriate routes of that paper work.
  • Maintain good relationships with the supported person, their family, businesses, employers, volunteer sites and DSPs.
  • Create, monitor and adjust weekly schedules for both the people supported and for DSPs.
  • Cover the duties of the Day Program when DSPs are unable to work to assure the people supported continue to receive the care they need.
  • Have the ability to safely lift and transfer people that need assistance.
  • Secure new employment, volunteer and recreational/leisure opportunities for the people supported.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, give direction to and supervise DSPs.
  • Conduct reference checks on all DSPs.
  • Motivate Team Members and deal effectively with performance issues
  • Provide on the job training based on the individual needs of the person and contract that authorizes hours of service
  • Completed daily notes and ISP data on individual progress.
  • Keep detailed notes on services provided for billing purposes.
  • Complete billing on time, based on the needs/deadlines of each service provided.
  • Participate in and facilitate team meetings for each person served on an individualized basis.
  • Conduct assessments and paperwork as required to maintain standards.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire DSPs/ESPs. This will be completed as a team and follow direction laid out by Human Recourses (HR) and Directors.
  • Conduct reference checks on all potential hires and maintain records.
  • Train, Schedule and supervise DSPs/ESPs. This will look different based on what program the staff is providing support in. Staff will be trained directly by the Manager on all paperwork necessary as well as the standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate to maintain an effective department through proper training of all staff.
  • Maintain good Team Member relations.
  • Document training and conversations with team members and follow HR guidelines on recordkeeping.
  • Motivate Team Members and effectively work with staff with any performance issues.
  • Complete payroll and ensure that staff are paid accurately.
