About The Position

Lifesteps is hiring a Day Program Substitute for its Adult Training Facility in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Lifesteps is a nonprofit human services organization that has served Western Pennsylvania for over 100 years, providing programs and services to help individuals with special needs reach their fullest potential. The Disability Services Day Program Aide assists adults with special needs in activities including basic life skills, community participation, transportation, vocational skills, crafts, and recreational activities. Staff observe and report on participants’ accomplishments and help maintain a safe, clean environment. The posting describes the work as a rewarding opportunity to support participants and serve the community. This is a part-time position with a varying schedule. The posting notes that the program operates Monday through Friday, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Current driver’s license and ability to travel using an Agency vehicle.
Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification; training is provided by Lifesteps.
First aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain certification within six months; training is provided by Lifesteps.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities in the human services field, such as direct care, home health aide, personal care attendant, or TSS.
An associate or bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Recreational Therapy, Health Education, Nutrition, or another major.
