About The Position

Responsible for the health, safety, and well being of developmentally disabled clients in Day Program facilities. This role involves creating a learning environment, implementing individual plans of care, monitoring client progress, and ensuring the overall well-being and safety of clients both within the facility and during community outings.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and transfer 70-75 lbs.
  • Must be able to utilize approved protective hold techniques.
  • Good to excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and follow-through on daily work assignments.
  • Display motivation and interest in improving quality of life for the population served.
  • Demonstrate and maintain an optimistic attitude, patience, and compassion for and with the population served.
  • Valid CT. Driver’s License.
  • Ability to drive own and agency vehicle and a good driving record.
  • Must obtain Public Service License within sixty (60) days of hire or transfer and maintain it for the duration of employment.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related Human Services area.
  • An Associate's degree in a related field and one (1) year experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of developmentally disabled clients.
  • Create a learning environment and develop strategies to help clients cope with social, emotional, and physical situations.
  • Implement Individual Plan of Care/Follow-Along Plan and record data on teaching strategies, behavior plans, and client progress.
  • Monitor medical, physical, and behavioral changes in individuals and report changes to supervisors.
  • Follow written dietary plans and assist with meal preparation if required.
  • Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and upkeep of the day program facilities and vehicle.
  • Maintain clients' right to privacy and adhere to confidentiality policies.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner when interacting with participants, supervisors, co-workers, families, medical professionals, and community members.
  • Participate in required training opportunities and maintain all required certifications.
  • Take individuals on community-based outings, ensuring health and safety measures are followed.
  • Provide accurate accounting of agency's petty cash and client funds.
  • Familiarize oneself with and ensure compliance with CRI policies and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisors.
