About The Position

SSC Services for Education is hiring a full-time Day Porter at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. SSC is a nationwide facility service provider and a member of Compass Group, creating clean, safe, and distraction-free learning environments. The position keeps buildings clean and orderly and includes heavy cleaning duties. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; additional details are provided during the interview. Other openings within the school district may be available, and the posting notes that full- and part-time schedules may be available to meet scheduling needs.

The Day Porter uses assigned materials and equipment to clean and sanitize assigned areas, maintains floors and surfaces, removes rubbish, and moves furniture and equipment as needed. The role follows approved cleaning procedures, infection control plans, and applicable federal, state, and county guidelines. Candidates may be trained, and prior janitorial experience is preferred but not required. The pay range is $17.50 to $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
• Move equipment and furniture to clean properly and return furniture to its correct placement.
• Clean assigned areas using assigned materials and equipment.
• Sanitize all surfaces and follow the eight-step cleaning procedure.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Identify areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
• Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Perform work in accordance with applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpet.
• Contribute to the team and act professionally with customers, coworkers, and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
