About The Position

A Day Porter maintains common areas of office buildings, apartment houses, and other commercial or institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition. The role performs routine cleaning and upkeep, monitors building areas, reports issues to the Management Office, and assists the building Engineer as directed by Management. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Requirements

• Consistently attend work and arrive on time.
• Follow instructions and management direction, take responsibility for actions, keep commitments, and complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan.
• Commit to long hours when necessary to reach goals.
• Observe safety and security procedures, identify appropriate actions beyond guidelines, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities

• Spot clean lobby glass doors and polish chrome on lobby doors.
• Vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day.
• Inspect the building exterior and pick up trash.
• Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor.
• Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles.
• Check restrooms twice daily.
• Vacuum the lobby once a day or as needed.
• Sweep stairwells and landings as needed.
• Remove debris from landscaped areas as needed.
• Sweep building entrances.
• Clean smudges and marks from walls, doors, and wall covering.
• Report lights that are out, including exit lights and directory boards, to the Management Office.
• Report solicitors to the Management Office.
• Keep lobby floors and planters free of paper and debris, scheduling this work during high-traffic times where applicable.
• Empty all trash receptacles.
• Vacuum carpeted floors.
• Dust mop lobby floors twice daily.
• Polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons.
• Assist the building Engineer daily at Management's discretion.
