About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a Database Team Lead for an exciting opportunity at the Department of State. This role involves managing comprehensive database management support for a global IT environment, including numerous facilities, data centers, cloud platforms (OCI, Azure, AWS), applications, servers, workstations, and SQL databases. The position directs senior Tier II support for all databases and Tier III support for SQL and Oracle databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases. The lead will also manage modernized databases, assist with modernization initiatives, support integration with partner agencies and internal applications, and manage middleware and messaging queues. Responsibilities include deploying DDL and DML scripts, coordinating application releases, providing leadership for Oracle engineered systems (Exadata), managing physical and virtual infrastructure in accordance with security and emergency protocols, ensuring database security compliance, managing service account password resets, and maintaining repository documentation. The role also involves ensuring Application Development and IV&V teams have necessary support for script installation, troubleshooting, and testing in non-production environments.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience
• Bachelor's in IT or related field
• OCP and/or MCDBA-equivalent
• Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive database management support related to the global customer IT environment.
• Directs senior Tier II support for all databases and Tier III for all SQL and Oracle databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases, as well as databases supporting both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications.
• Leads modernized databases and assists with modernization initiatives.
• Supports integration of database service with partner agencies and internal applications, including managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructure).
• Deploys approved Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) scripts and coordinates customer application releases across all domestic and overseas locations.
• Provides leadership for Oracle engineered systems (Exadata), including standby builds, Secure Shell (SSH) key management, and cloud migration activities.
• Manages physical and virtual infrastructure supporting databases in accordance with Government security and emergency protocols.
• Ensures database security compliance for databases, manages service account password resets, and maintains repository documentation (SOPs/KBAs).
• Ensures Application Development and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) teams have script installation, troubleshooting, and testing in non-production environments.
