About The Position

TekSynap is seeking a Database Team Lead to support an ITES task order and customer applications at Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Virginia. This role serves as the senior lead for database administration and engineering, including architecture, installation, configuration, security, performance, monitoring, and lifecycle management of enterprise database environments. Platforms include Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud-hosted databases. The position supports development, testing, and production environments and requires coordination of deployments, upgrades, and installations. The lead will ensure database environments meet ALTESS and Army cybersecurity requirements, including applicable STIGs, IAVM, and other DoD mandates. The role also collaborates with stakeholders and development teams to troubleshoot issues and deliver solutions aligned with enterprise architecture. This position supports an upcoming government contract proposal and is contingent upon contract award and government approval. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and meet the stated Secret clearance requirement; candidates may be asked to sign a Letter of Commitment. The work environment is an office with a medium noise level. The regular schedule is day shift, Monday through Friday, with possible evening and weekend work to meet program and contract needs. Travel is less than 10%.

Requirements

Extensive experience in database administration and architecture.
At least five years of experience supporting Application Server architecture within a large enterprise environment.
Expertise with enterprise database platforms including Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud-hosted database solutions.
Deep understanding of database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, access control, and capacity planning.
Ability to interface professionally with customers, including troubleshooting and solution design.
Experience supporting government agencies, customers, or contracts in federal environments, including the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Federal Civil agencies, or military organizations.
U.S. citizenship.
Secret – IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive clearance or Tier 3 (T3) investigation.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with scripting and automation using Python and PowerShell.
Prior experience supporting the same or a similar contract, with an in-depth understanding of the customer environment, requirements, and operational landscape.
Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM), and related cybersecurity practices.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior lead for database administration and engineering activities supporting customer applications.
Architect, install, and configure enterprise database environments, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud-based databases.
Manage database system lifecycles to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and scalability.
Schedule and coordinate database deployments, upgrades, and new installations across development, testing, and production environments.
Develop and enforce database security standards to comply with ALTESS and Army cybersecurity requirements.
Perform Security Readiness Reviews (SRRs) and document results in a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M).
Create and maintain proactive database monitoring tools and dashboards to support operational excellence and early problem detection.
Ensure database environments are patched, backed up, and compliant with STIGs, IAVM, and other DoD cybersecurity mandates.
Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to troubleshoot issues and provide database solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
Recommend and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency, reliability, and security of database platforms.
