About The Position
Fastwater Staffing is seeking a Database Migration Consultant (Staff) with strong SQL development experience, particularly in migrating from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL. The role involves hands-on work with database objects, code conversion, testing, and supporting database modernization projects. A LinkedIn profile and willingness to undergo a background check are required.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card (Permanent Resident) holder ONLY.
- Must be willing to undergo fingerprinting and a government background check (CJIS-type).
- LinkedIn profile required; all resumes will be verified against LinkedIn.
- 3+ years of SQL development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views).
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server to PostgreSQL code conversion and remediation.
- Strong hands-on experience with functional and performance testing of database objects.
- Familiarity with T-SQL to PostgreSQL dialect conversion (TOP/LIMIT, ISNULL/COALESCE, GETDATE()/NOW(), temp tables, identity vs. sequences).
- Familiarity with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) assessment reports and remediation.
- Familiarity with data validation and migration testing.
- Experience supporting database modernization or migration projects.
Nice To Haves
- AWS DMS experience.
- SSIS/SSRS remediation or migration experience.
- AWS exposure and SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration experience.
- Familiarity with AWS Glue and ETL modernization concepts.
Responsibilities
- Perform SQL development.
- Work with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views.
- Work with PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Convert and remediate SQL Server code to PostgreSQL.
- Conduct functional and performance testing of database objects.
