About The Position
Fastwater Staffing is seeking a Senior Database Migration Consultant / Pod Lead with extensive experience in database engineering, migration, and architecture. This role requires expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including migration strategies, performance tuning, and leading technical teams. The consultant will be responsible for overseeing database migration projects, ensuring technical quality, and driving large-scale modernization initiatives.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card (Permanent Resident) holder ONLY.
- Willingness to undergo fingerprinting and a government background check (CJIS-type).
- LinkedIn profile required; all resumes will be verified against LinkedIn.
- 8+ years of database engineering, database migration, or database architecture experience.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, and SSIS/SSRS).
- Expert-level experience with PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL development and performance tuning).
- Expert-level experience with SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Strong hands-on experience with schema conversion and code-object remediation.
- Strong hands-on experience with full-load and CDC migration strategies.
- Strong hands-on experience with database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization.
- Strong hands-on experience with large-scale database modernization initiatives.
Nice To Haves
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
- Production experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration programs.
