About The Position
We are seeking a Database Migration Consultant (Staff) to support enterprise database modernization and migration initiatives. In this role, you will analyze, convert, and optimize database objects while assisting with the migration of Microsoft SQL Server environments to PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate has strong SQL development expertise, hands-on migration experience, and a solid understanding of database performance, validation, and modernization best practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of SQL development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
- Strong hands-on experience with Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server to PostgreSQL code conversion and remediation
- Strong hands-on experience with Functional and performance testing of database objects
- Familiarity with T-SQL to PostgreSQL dialect conversion (e.g., TOP/LIMIT, ISNULL/COALESCE, GETDATE()/NOW(), temp tables, identity vs. sequences)
- Familiarity with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) assessment reports and remediation
- Familiarity with Data validation and migration testing
- Experience supporting database modernization or migration projects.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Must be willing to support and work with a government client.
- Must be willing to undergo fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process.
- Must successfully complete a government background investigation (CJIS-type clearance).
Nice To Haves
- Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).
- Experience with SSIS/SSRS remediation or migration.
- Experience with AWS services and SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration projects.
- Familiarity with AWS Glue and modern ETL migration concepts.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize database objects using Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Convert and remediate SQL Server database code for PostgreSQL compatibility.
- Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Perform functional, integration, and performance testing of migrated database objects.
- Analyze and remediate T-SQL to PostgreSQL syntax differences and compatibility issues.
- Review and address findings from AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) assessment reports.
- Validate migrated data and support database migration testing activities.
- Collaborate with development and project teams to support database modernization and migration initiatives.
