About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Database Migration Consultant (Senior / Pod Lead) to lead large-scale database modernization and migration initiatives. In this role, you will oversee database migration efforts, guide technical teams, and drive the successful migration of Microsoft SQL Server environments to PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in database architecture, AWS migration tools, and performance optimization, along with proven experience leading enterprise-scale database migration projects.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in database engineering, database migration, or database architecture.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
- Expert-level experience with Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, and SSIS/SSRS
- Expert-level experience with PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL
- Expert-level experience with PL/pgSQL development and performance tuning
- Expert-level experience with SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration projects
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
- Strong hands-on experience with Schema conversion and code-object remediation
- Strong hands-on experience with Full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies
- Strong hands-on experience with Database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization
- Strong hands-on experience with Large-scale database modernization initiatives
- Experience leading database migration teams and reviewing technical deliverables.
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Must be willing to support and work with a government client.
- Must be willing to undergo fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process.
- Must successfully complete a government background investigation (CJIS-type clearance).
Nice To Haves
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty certification.
- Production experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead database modernization and migration initiatives from SQL Server to PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Design, develop, and optimize database objects, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and SSIS/SSRS components.
- Perform schema conversion and code remediation using AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
- Plan and execute database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), including full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and architectural improvements.
- Review technical deliverables and provide guidance to database migration team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of database modernization initiatives.
- Support database validation, testing, troubleshooting, and post-migration optimization.
