About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a Database Developer to build and maintain queries, stored procedures, and views for a federal agency's enterprise data platform. This role involves working with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible) and associated platform stores, under the guidance of a senior developer, with the opportunity to grow into owning physical design. The work is impactful, focusing on turning raw data into usable information and contributing to new capabilities within the firm.

Requirements

• Sole United States citizenship.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
• Hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, requiring regular commuting into DC.
• Solid SQL on a modern relational platform (Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL-compatible).
• Experience writing stored procedures and views.
• Experience with query tuning.
• Experience with data loading (S3 into platform stores).
• Experience with connectivity.
• Experience with version control.
• Basic proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• 4+ years of database development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• SQL on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
• Working with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables.
• Stored procedures, views, and query tuning.
• Data loading (S3 into the platform stores) and ODBC/JDBC connectivity.

Nice To Haves

• Physical-design ownership of Aurora and Iceberg stores, or the drive to grow into it.
• Apache Ranger-governed access.
• Federal information technology experience.
• High-volume transaction experience.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain queries, stored procedures, and views on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
• Work with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables.
• Perform query tuning.
• Manage S3 data loads into platform stores.
• Ensure connectivity to data stores.
• Contribute to new capabilities, tools, and lines of business.
• Own outcomes and drive solutions for hard problems.
