About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a motivated Database Developer to build and maintain queries, stored procedures, and views for a federal agency's enterprise data platform. This role involves working with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible) and related data stores, with opportunities to grow into physical design ownership. The work is impactful, focusing on turning raw data into usable information and contributing to new capabilities within the firm.

Requirements

• Sole United States citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
• Hybrid role requiring regular commuting into Washington, DC.
• 4+ years of database development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• SQL on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
• Experience working with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables.
• Experience with stored procedures, views, and query tuning.
• Experience with data loading (S3 into the platform stores) and ODBC/JDBC connectivity.
• Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Solid SQL on a modern relational platform.
• Version control and clean delivery practices.

Nice To Haves

• Physical-design ownership of the Aurora and Iceberg stores, or the drive to grow into it.
• Experience with Apache Ranger-governed access.
• Federal information technology or high-volume transaction experience.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain queries, stored procedures, and views on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible).
• Work with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables.
• Perform query tuning.
• Manage S3 data loads into platform stores.
• Ensure connectivity to data stores.
• Contribute to new capabilities, tools, and lines of business.
• Develop and maintain reliable SQL, stored procedures, and views.
• Implement governed access for data.
