This role involves hands-on administration of Microsoft SQL Server in production environments. The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for instance startup/shutdown, configuration parameter changes, and operational maintenance. A strong working knowledge of SQL Server monitoring and maintenance is essential, including backup and restore operations, integrity checks, and scheduled maintenance jobs. The DBA will perform routine health diagnostics and remediation, identify space and growth risks, and proactively address availability and performance issues. Execution of approved SQL Server changes, such as installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration updates, will be done by following documented procedures. Experience with ITSM processes using ServiceNow, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management, is required, along with accurate ticket updates and timely escalation. The role also includes supporting SQL Server security operations, audit, and compliance activities.
