About The Position

AT&T Global Public Sector is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA II) to support Public Sector Solutions. This role is crucial for maintaining and growing the processes used to support and manage databases within a dedicated team. The position requires a minimum of 5 days per week in the office, located at a government customer site in Laurel, MD. The team is responsible for creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL Server and MariaDB databases across multiple networks and architectures, including both on-premise datacenters and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, eager to learn new skills, and contribute to process improvements. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Cloud technologies, teamwork, process automation, and innovative problem-solving are highly valued.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a DBA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional DBA experience may be substituted.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting MS SQL, MariaDB, and/or Oracle databases.
  • Experience with index and performance management.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with instances and applications.
  • Experience with backup and recovery processes.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams in support of a common mission.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Compliance with DOD 8570.01-M with a minimum certification of IAT Level II (CCNA - SECURITY, GICSP, GSEC, Security +, SSCP).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of AWS services, specifically RDS.
  • Experience with PowerShell/Python scripting to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Exposure to Commvault backup solutions.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server AlwaysOn.
  • Knowledge of Windows Event Log Filtering.
  • Knowledge of Windows Task Scheduler Setup and Management.
  • Experience supporting SharePoint implementations.
