About The Position

The Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill a position responsible for providing database application support services for the agency. This role involves server management, database maintenance, and collaboration with all levels of agency staff and external agencies to obtain project requirements and specifications. The position supports project managers within the information technology division and acts as an assistant agency Database Administrator.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Expertise in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Expertise in T-SQL programming.
  • Expertise in database administrative tasks.
  • Skilled in maintaining and updating code written by other internal developers.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, investigate, mitigate, and resolve technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new systems and procedures rapidly.
  • Experience with providing end-user technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software, hardware, and peripherals installation, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Development experience in building, deploying, and supporting applications using .NET Standard 4.8 and Visual Basic.
  • Proficiency in ASP.NET (VB), ASP.NET (C#), ASP, HTML, HTML5, jQuery, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON.
  • Ability to translate formal requirements documentation into database and program modules.
  • Experience in server and system administration, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Full System Development Life Cycle experience and ability to troubleshoot and maintain code written by other developers.
  • Experience working with Commonwealth of Virginia IT systems and VITA.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Applications and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
