About The Position

As a Data Support Intern, you will join our Visa Risk & Analytics team for a four-month internship opportunity supporting data-driven decision-making across Vancity’s Visa credit card portfolio. You will work with data used to support account originations, portfolio monitoring, credit strategy development, and business insights for both Retail and Business Visa products. This role provides hands-on experience working with data, analytics, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration within a dynamic financial services environment. We are seeking a curious, detail-oriented, and analytical student who enjoys working with data and solving business challenges. This is a Full-time, 4-Month Internship role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to a Manager within the Visa Risk & Analytics team. This Internship will run from September to December. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands.

Requirements

Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
Eligibility for a co-op or internship opportunity
Interest in data analysis, reporting, analytics, and financial services
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working with Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

Experience with SQL or data querying tools
Exposure to Python, R, SAS, or other analytical programming languages
Familiarity with financial services, operational data, analytics, or data science concepts

Responsibilities

Supporting day-to-day data activities related to Visa Risk & Analytics by gathering, cleaning, validating, and organizing data from multiple sources
Using Excel, SQL, and other tools to manipulate data, investigate data quality, and support analytical activities
Assisting with analyzing trends and preparing insights to support data-driven decision-making
Creating spreadsheets, presentations, and documentation to support analysts and managers
Collaborating with Visa Planning & Settlement, Payments Operations, and Risk & Analytics teams on assigned projects and initiatives
Supporting data quality reviews and identifying opportunities for process improvements
Organizing and maintaining data files, documentation, and reporting materials
Contributing to analytical projects that support Visa portfolio management and business objectives
