About The Position

The Data Strategist is an integral member of the Data Analytics team, serving as a bridge between organizational data needs and actionable insights. This role supports high-impact leadership reporting, fundraising analytics, field program reporting, and operational data management—while also contributing to the development of the organization’s long-term data strategy, governance framework, and data culture. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, team-oriented problem-solver who is equally comfortable designing BI solutions, ensuring data quality and integrity, and helping leaders and departments use data to make informed decisions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field, or 2–4 years of equivalent experience in technology, data management, or analytics.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with BI tools (Domo, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and data storytelling skills.
  • Collaborative and approachable, with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Curious and persistent in solving complex problems.
  • Able to balance immediate tactical needs with long-term strategic priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Domo certification or advanced Domo experience.
  • API integration and data pipeline experience.
  • Familiarity with Python, R, or JavaScript for data manipulation.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to deliver timely, accurate, and relevant data for decision-making and performance tracking.
  • Partner with organizational groups and teams to ensure accurate and accessible reporting for governance, leadership, and management levels.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests, conducting research and analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Ensure data visualizations, pages, and dashboards present the data in a clear and informative manner.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of organizational KPIs, progress tracking, and performance dashboards.
  • Assist in the integration and management of cross-system data flows (e.g., Salesforce, Cord Field, external datasets like Progress Bible or DBL).
  • Identify and work with the Data Architect and Manager, Data Analytics to address data quality issues, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
  • Partner together with the Data Analytics team and Data Stewards to provide data solutions.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of the organization’s long-term data strategy and roadmap.
  • Help support the data governance framework, defining ownership, access, and stewardship.
  • Provide understanding of the impact on the business areas (Field, Investor, and Operations) as data governance is determined, changed, and implemented.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of an organizational data dictionary/glossary, ensuring consistency in terminology and metrics.
  • Participate in the Data Steward Team, including providing ad-hoc training and enablement for departmental stewards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a QA process for dashboards, reports, and metrics.
  • Design, build, and maintain BI dashboards and visualizations (currently in Domo) for leadership, groups, and individuals within the organization.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Administer BI platform access, roles, and permissions.
  • Stay current on data analytics trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Attend and participate in organizational meetings, working groups, and cross-department initiatives.
  • Maintain required knowledge of relevant operating procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Occasionally respond to off-hour data system issues.
  • Participate in projects with organization-wide impact as assigned.
