As a Claims Analytics Data Scientist you will contribute on initiatives through clever use of data and complex analysis. You will be responsible to support the efficiency's increase of the Claims Department. You can be involved in various type of tasks such as data understanding, data extraction, work driver analysis, KPI creation, business case creation and forecasting.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in statistics, actuarial or data science.
  • A post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related discipline.
  • Proficient with statistical programming languages and have experience working with large data volumes.
  • Strong understanding of P&C Insurance claims concepts.
  • Strong background using statistics to validate models and hypothesis.
  • Experience communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Having experience working with R or Python and SQL is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Understand operational claims objectives and help them to put in place initiatives and objectives that will maximize the unit's efficiency.
  • Develop analytic solutions to solve business problems with data science, including the use of programming, statistical techniques, modelling and forecasting methods.
  • Executing the appropriate data exploration, extraction, cleaning, reconciliation, and preparation processes required for the development of analytics solutions.
  • Communicate findings and make recommendations to influence claims management decision making.
  • Contributing to various projects, such as determining work drivers, developing and testing KPI's, providing support for business cases.
