Data Scientist 1

About The Position

The Data Scientist acts as an internal business consultant, using data to help optimize the organization and support other departments in reducing costs and errors. The role addresses business problems and questions by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting relevant data, identifying patterns or trends and assessing their statistical significance. Data is pulled from SQL databases and analyzed using Python, R, Excel, or other suitable tools; Tableau is used for visualization. Working with a data engineer, the Data Scientist presents findings to stakeholders and confirms, refutes, or acknowledges hypotheses. Findings may be implemented or lead to further work. The posting gives conflicting location information: it first describes a hybrid role requiring residence within 100 miles of the Coppell, Texas office and regular on-site work three days a week, plus two to three monthly collaboration days; it later says the role is remote but requires reporting to the Independence, Ohio office for regular collaboration days. The role works with an Agile team, participates in daily standups, completes projects or stories during bimonthly sprints, and meets frequent deployment deadlines. Clear communication and flexibility are important, as the approach or deliverable may change as analysis progresses.
