About The Position

Bobcat’s student program is an opportunity created to empower young professionals. Co-op: An 8-month long opportunity, Co-op positions are a full-time employment experience. Co-ops are fully immersed into the worlds of corporate and production industry as a full-time team member. Internship: A semester long opportunity, Internships positions are a part-time employment experience. With the opportunity to extend multiple semesters, Interns tap into the foundations of our corporate and production industries. Co-op and Intern opportunities span across 18 of Bobcat’s different functions.

Requirements

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing seeking a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, etc.
  • Be able to commit to Bobcat for the entire term of the co-op (8 months) or internship (4 months)
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player, fast learner, and adaptable to change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills is a must
  • A self-starter and will dig into problems independently and will look for limited guidance
  • Ability to follow written instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • SQL/NoSQL, ETL Pipelines and data-processing libraries (pandas, Spark)
  • Building or consuming REST/GraphQL services
  • AWS Services (Bedrock, S3, Lambda, SageMaker) or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • User Need Analysis – Work with product managers to identify business pain points and translate them into functional specifications for an intelligent agent.
  • LLM Powered Conversation Engine – Implement natural language understanding, intent detection, and dialogue management using large language models (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
  • API Integration – Build and test REST/GraphQL endpoints that connect the agent to external data sources (CRM, ERP, public APIs).
  • Testing & Debugging – Write unit and integration tests, and troubleshoot performance or correctness issues in the agent pipeline.
  • Knowledge Base Design – Design the schema and data model that will store the agent’s knowledge.
  • Data Update Pipeline – Create automated pipelines to ingest, clean, and update documents, keeping the knowledge base current.
  • RAG Research & Implementation – Explore Retrieval Augmented Generation techniques to improve answer accuracy, and implement a simple RAG pipeline that pulls context from the knowledge base.
  • Vector Database Deployment – Deploy a vector search solution (FAISS, Pinecone, Milvus, etc.) to enable fast similarity search over embedded documents.
  • Relevance Optimization Algorithms – Develop basic ranking/optimization logic to evaluate and improve the relevance of search results returned to users.
  • Cloud Deployment – Package the AI agent as a Docker container and deploy it to a cloud environment (AWS ECS/EKS, Lambda, or SageMaker).
  • Monitoring & Incident Response – Set up basic metrics (latency, error rates) with CloudWatch or Prometheus and learn how to handle incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement – Collect user feedback, analyze usage data, and iterate on the agent to enhance performance and user satisfaction.
