About The Position
The CareSource Data Science Intern provides support on special projects, initiatives, and activities that vary by assignment. This is a paid, 12-week summer internship for college students seeking real-world experience and preparation for a career after college. Interns may work on projects that affect the company, attend Journey-to-the-Job seminars with CareSource leaders, receive an assigned mentor, and connect with former interns who have earned full-time positions at CareSource. The program offers opportunities to apply prior learning, develop new skills, and work with colleagues in an environment that may be onsite, hybrid, or remote. The intern supports data science, machine learning, and AI projects using Python and real-world healthcare data. Work may include exploratory data analysis, model development, experimentation, and evaluating emerging AI technologies for healthcare and business applications. Depending on the intern’s interests, experience, and project needs, projects may involve machine learning, forecasting, computer vision, natural language processing, or other analytical solutions. The role involves independent, project-based work and collaboration with experienced data scientists. The role is hourly, with a stated compensation range of $41,200 to $66,000. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Be a current rising junior or senior in an accredited degree program, or have graduated within the last six months.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities
- Support data science, machine learning, and AI projects using Python and real-world healthcare data, including exploratory data analysis, model development, and experimentation.
- Explore emerging AI technologies, including LLMs, small language models, RAG, fine-tuning, and agentic AI, and evaluate potential healthcare and business applications.
- Develop and test machine learning, forecasting, computer vision, NLP, or other analytical solutions according to interests, experience, and project needs.
- Apply coding and analytical skills to independent, project-based work.
- Collaborate with experienced data scientists while experimenting with new approaches and technologies.
